On the 1st of November, 2016 one of the buttress on the northern gate of Kotor, Montenegro collapsed. The reason of collapse was the lost of the ground bellow the wall due to a neglect. The buttress was constructed during the Austro-Hungarian government in the 19th century. The purpose of this buttress was to reinforce medieval part of the Kotor ramparts and to prevent falling of the wall into the Škurda river. Unfortunately, same will happen to the similar nearby buttress, since it is also lost it ground support. Recently, opposite side of the same wall collapsed. Kotor and the whole inner part of the Bay of Kotor is on UNESCO World Heritage Site List.
